Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of BuyerBot ("the Service"), a Slack application operated by BuyerBot ("we," "us," or "our"). By installing or using BuyerBot, you agree to these Terms.

1. What BuyerBot does

BuyerBot is a Slack application that helps teams coordinate product purchases. Team members search for products, submit purchase requests, and designated approvers approve or reject them. Approved items are assembled into a retailer cart link (currently Amazon) that the approver can use to complete the purchase.

2. Accounts and installation

  • You must have a valid Slack workspace to use BuyerBot.
  • The person who installs BuyerBot becomes the default approver and workspace administrator for BuyerBot.
  • You are responsible for managing who has approver access within your workspace.
  • You may uninstall BuyerBot from your Slack workspace at any time, which terminates your use of the Service.

3. How purchases work

It's important to understand BuyerBot's role in the purchasing process:

  • BuyerBot is not a seller. We do not sell, ship, or fulfill any products. We generate links to third-party retailers (currently Amazon).
  • BuyerBot does not process payments. No credit card, bank account, or other payment information is collected or stored by BuyerBot. All payment is handled directly between the buyer and the retailer.
  • The approver completes the purchase. When a request is approved, the approver receives a pre-loaded cart link. The approver clicks the link, reviews the cart on the retailer's site, and checks out using their own account and payment method.
  • Prices may change. Product prices shown in Slack are fetched at the time of search and may differ from the price at checkout. BuyerBot does not guarantee pricing.
  • Returns and disputes are handled directly with the retailer. BuyerBot has no role in returns, refunds, or order disputes.

4. Affiliate relationship

BuyerBot participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Cart links generated by BuyerBot contain an affiliate tag. When a purchase is completed through one of these links, BuyerBot earns a commission from Amazon at no additional cost to the buyer.

This affiliate relationship is fundamental to how BuyerBot operates and funds the Service. The affiliate tag cannot be removed or replaced with a user's own tag.

5. Free and paid plans

  • The Free plan includes up to 25 purchase requests per workspace per month at no cost.
  • The Team plan offers unlimited requests and additional features for a monthly subscription fee.
  • We reserve the right to modify plan features and pricing. If pricing changes affect your current plan, we will give at least 30 days' notice via Slack message.
  • Paid plans may be cancelled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use BuyerBot to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Circumvent Amazon's or any retailer's terms of service
  • Submit automated or scripted requests (BuyerBot is for human-initiated purchases only)
  • Abuse the approval system to circumvent your organization's purchasing policies
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service
  • Resell access to BuyerBot or use it to build a competing product

7. Service availability

  • We aim to keep BuyerBot available at all times but do not guarantee uptime. The Service depends on Slack, Amazon, and Cloudflare, all of which may experience outages outside our control.
  • We may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.
  • We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime through Slack.

8. Data and privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using BuyerBot, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

9. Intellectual property

BuyerBot, including its name, logo, code, and design, is owned by us. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the right to use the Service as intended.

Product information, images, and prices displayed through BuyerBot are the property of the respective retailers and are displayed under their terms.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • BuyerBot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We are not liable for any purchases made through cart links generated by BuyerBot. You are responsible for reviewing the cart contents and price before completing any purchase on the retailer's site.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BuyerBot and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

  • By you: You can stop using BuyerBot at any time by uninstalling it from your Slack workspace.
  • By us: We may suspend or terminate your access to BuyerBot if you violate these Terms, if your use creates a risk to other users, or if we are required to do so by law. We will provide notice when possible.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Data retention after termination is governed by our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via a Slack message from BuyerBot at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in Utah.
